Dear Artist, AWOL Gallery (Toronto, Canada) is once again planning for The Square Foot Show, an annual group exhibition of hundreds of local, national and international artists in all media. It is an incredible networking event for artists to gain exposure to collectors, curators, media, other artists, and the general public. This is Square Foot’s sixth year and the AWOL Collective is aiming to make the show bigger and better than ever. Like 2007’s exhibition, we will hold The Square Foot Show at an off site venue called the Lower Ossington Theatre (LOT) at 100A Ossington. Our vision is to present the exhibition in this much larger space that will accommodate both the large number of artworks and the hundreds of people who come to view this exhibit every year. In 2007 over 500 artists participated and exhibited over 1200 pieces! The success and viability of securing a lager venue is dependent upon the number of registered participating artists. This year we are asking you to join us for Square Foot 2008 and help us make this the most memorable Square Foot Show to date. Although our RSVP deadline is firm, there is no limit to the number of participating artists this year, so forward this message to anyone that you feel may be interested in taking part. CRITERIA:
•All artwork must be exactly 12” x 12” inches (the outer dimension of the piece,
framed or unframed) and no more than 5 inches thick.

•Work cannot be hung on an angle, so plan your work to be level.
(If the pieces do not meet the dimensional criteria, they will not be shown.)

•Up to three (3) pieces can be submitted
•$15.00 submission fee, payable in cheque or money order.
Please do not send cash by mail.
AWARDS:
A ”People’s Choice Award” of $200.00, and two “Honorable Mention” awards of
$100.00 will be announced after the first week of the exhibition. The winners will
be determined through ballots cast by visitors to the show.
ARTWORK DROP OFF/DELIVERY DATES:
Tuesday August 5th + Wednesday August 6th 5-9pm
Work can be hand delivered to AWOL Gallery, 78 Ossington Ave., Toronto
Wed. August 6th is when work being mailed or couriered must be received by this date.
(If mailing artworks you must include sufficient return postage for unsold work or inform the gallery
if the unsold artworks will be picked up in person.)
