the need to fly vs. the fear of stars

recessed halogen lights, fly wings, hardware

Created for the exhibition blindness, this work consists of four halogen lights recessed into the wall at eye level. Suspended from an overhang in front of each light is a pair of fly wings. The light obliterates the wings from the viewer. A welder’s goggle marked with a grid and leather blind pierced with a constellation are suspended on either side of each light. This allows the viewer to observe the wings without damaging their eyes. The blinds also eclipse the lights as the viewer passes by.
